Our staff at Shinui is comprised of highly regarded therapists from various backgrounds in the mental health professions, who have acquired a breadth of knowledge and expertise in systemic thought and therapy. Areas of specialization include systemic family therapy, individual and couples therapy, clinical & educational psychology, clinical & community social work, forensic psychology, mediation, organizational counseling and strategic approaches to problem solving. The Shinui team is regularly augmented by renowned guest lecturers and a distinguished international faculty.

Dr. Noga (Rubinstein) Nabarro

Founder, partner and director of Shinui Institute, Dr. Noga (Rubinstein) Nabarro received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (1977). She is a senior clinical psychologist and supervisor in family and couples therapy. Her post-doctoral work focused on systemic and short-term therapy at the MRI, California and at the Rome Academy of Family Therapy. She also interned with distinguished mentors Carl Whitaker, Paul Wazlawick, Salvador Minuchin and Maurizio Andolphi. In the United States Dr. Nabarro taught at the University of California, San Jose, where she was head of clinical training in family therapy. Upon returning to Israel, she taught at Tel Aviv University’s School of Psychotherapy and at the Martin Buber Institute’s (Hebrew University) program for advanced studies in integrative psychotherapy. She was also a certification board member of the Israeli Family Therapy Association, and a board member of IFTA (International Family Therapy Association). Dr. Nabarro is currently on the editorial board of the Journal of Family Therapy and an active member of the European Family Therapy Association. She teaches and lectures nationally and in many countries (e.g. U.S.A., Canada, Austria, Holland, Finland, Sweden and Romania) and is regularly invited to speak at conferences around the world. She has published several articles and chapters in internationally acclaimed literature.

Dr. Sara Ivanir


Founder, partner and clinical director of Shinui Institute, Dr. Sara Ivanir received her Ph.D. from the Union Institute, U.S.A and her M.S.W. from Bar Ilan University, Israel. A certified family and couples therapist and a senior instructor – supervisor, Dr. Ivanir also teaches at Hebrew University’s department of integrative psychology and at Derby’s school of focused, short-term psychotherapy. Previously, she taught and trained family therapists at Tel Aviv University’s School of Social Work, and was director of Tel Aviv’s public clinic for marital & family counseling. She also coordinated the municipal welfare department of matrimonial issues, served on the council for family planning, and was an active member on the certification board of Israel’s Family Therapy Association. She recently joined her colleagues in founding the Israel Association of Focus Oriented Psychotherapy. Dr. Ivanir lectures throughout the country and internationally, and is published in professional literature and periodicals. Her current interests include developing clinical applications of psychotherapeutic, systemic and spiritual principles.

Dr. Daniel Gottlieb

Dr. Daniel Gottlieb is head of diagnostics and forensic psychology at Shinui. He is a PSY.D graduate of Yeshiva University, NY, a practicing clinical psychologist and a certified family therapist. Dr. Gottlieb interned at Ackerman Institute, NY, and specialized in the treatment of children and adolescents, learning disorders and neuropsychology at Cornell’s medical center and at the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services, New York. An expert in diagnostics and assessment for legal systems, Dr. Gottlieb is a distinguished board member of Israel’s International Center for Health, Law & Ethics, a faculty member of Haifa University and editorial board member of the “Refuah Umishpat” (Medicine & Law) periodical. Dr. Gottlieb lectures and presents at national and international conferences and is published frequently in professional literature and periodicals.

Dr. Haviva Ayal

Founder, partner and academic director of Shinui Institute, Dr. Haviva Ayal received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from University of Connecticut. She is a certified family therapist and a senior supervisor. She specialized in family and couples therapy at UCLA, trained with Professor Salvador Minuchin in Philadelphia and with Professor Andolphi in Rome, Italy. In the United States Dr. Ayal taught clinical & organizational psychology at the University of Connecticut, UCLA and Rutgers University. In Israel she has been a faculty member at Bar Ilan University’s School of Education, where she was coordinator of the group therapy unit. She also taught at Tel Aviv University’s School of Medicine, Psychotherapy Department and Business School. Before founding Shinui, Dr. Ayal was senior psychologist at the Kibbutz Movement’s family & children’s clinic. She currently teaches at “Sha’arey Mishpat” (Gates of Law) College and at the law faculty of “Hamichlala Leminhal” (College for Business). A pioneering certification board member of Israel’s Family Therapy Association, she presents regularly at national and international conferences and lectures around the world. Dr. Ayal is very active within the international forum of the Family Therapy Training Institutes.

Orit Admon-Schiffer

Orit Admon-Schiffer received her M.S.W. from Bar Ilan University. A certified family and couples therapist and a leading instructor – supervisor at Shinui, Ms. Admon-Schiffer lectures frequently throughout the country. She has trained with Professor Andolphi in Rome, Italy, with Hedy & Yumi Schleifer and with Maya Coleman in New York. Ms. Admon-Schiffer specializes in Imago for couples, and regularly leads Imago workshops for couples, parents & children and mental health care professionals. She is a member of the Imago International faculty. Ms. Admon-Schiffer is an expert in treatments for anxiety & depression, and in divorce mediation.

Dr. Orli Bach

Dr. Orli Bach received her PhD from Sierra University, U.S.A. She is an expert clinical psychologist and a graduate of the Gestalt Institute. She studied hypnosis in Northern California, as well as Family Therapy at the Redwood Center and the Children’s Hospital. Dr. Bach’s professional interests include families coping with crises, disease and loss, and families dealing with the challenges of immigration and cross-cultural transitions.

Elizabeth Gozlan

Elizabeth Gozlan is a M.A. graduate of Hebrew University, Jerusalem. She is a certified family and couple’s therapist, personal coach and organizational counselor. She has also specialized in group counseling. Before joining Shinui’s staff, she worked at Herzelyia’s family and couples clinic and at Maple Institute in Holon, Israel. Her extensive experience also includes working with adolescents, lecturing in various educational settings, and organizational counseling for small to medium-size businesses.

Leora Grunhaus

Leora Grunhaus received her M.S.W. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is a senior therapist and supervisor in Family and Couples Therapy at Shinui Institute. An expert in treatment for addictions, Ms. Grunhaus lectures extensively throughout Israel on topics such as couplehood, families and addictions. Her work experience includes “Eitanim” hospital and its clinics, the Welfare Ministry’s school of social work and various institutions for the treatment of addictions. She has trained with many prominent teachers and master therapists, including Hedy & Yumi Schleifer, and at Shinui where she now trains, instructs and supervises therapists receiving their certification. She is a member of Imago’s international teaching staff, and chairperson of the Imago-Israel forum. Ms. Grunhaus conducts Imago workshops for couples, parents and children, and for professionals in the fields of Mental Health.

Benny Sand

Benny Sand is an M.A. graduate of psychology from Haifa University. He also graduated the Technion’s computer engineering program. Formerly a director of a high-tech company, Mr. Sand now specializes in organizational counseling for family-owned businesses, mediation and negotiation for corporations and families, and divorce mediation. He is also an expert in Imago therapy for couples.

Lia Vered-Lev

Lia Vered-Lev holds a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology from Hebrew University, Jerusalem. An expert educational counselor and certified family and couples therapist, Ms. Vered-Lev specializes in the assessment and treatment of children and families with learning disabilities, developmental arrests and attention-deficit disorders.

Yael Higger

Yael Higger received her M.S.W. from Tel Aviv University. She is chief coordinator of the national “Adoptive Families” project and a certified family and couples therapist. She specializes in adoption issues and anger management. In the past Ms. Higger has counseled IDF commanders and lectured on topics such as soldiers with special needs. Currently she leads many groups of high-tech managers on short-term crisis interventions, and regularly conducts anger management workshops for a broad range of populations.

Rachel Meged

Rachel Meged is an M.S.W. graduate of Yeshiva University, New York. She is also a graduate of Shinui Institute’s certification program in Family and Couples Therapy. She has studied Strategic Family Therapy and couples counseling with Dr. Michele Ritterman in Northern California, and psychodynamic short-term therapy with Eli Chen in Israel. Prior to joining Shinui’s staff, Ms. Meged has worked with individuals, couples and families of all ages and ethnic backgrounds at Rishon Le’tzion’s walk-in clinic, and at the Mental Health Center in Be’er Ya’akov.

Suzy Koren

Suzy Koren received her M.S.W. from Tel Aviv University. A certified family and couples therapist, Ms. Koren is also a parole officer and community welfare agent. She has previously directed the “Etgar” (“challenge”) project, an enrichment and counseling program for parents of toddlers. Ms. Koren currently conducts family therapy at Shinui Institute, Social Services, Immigration Centers and the national educational psychology services. Her current interests include working with Mind-Body integrative approaches for individuals, couples and families.

Anat Kaminsky

Anat Kaminsky received her Masters in Educational Counseling from Haifa University, majoring in Art Therapy. A certified family and couples therapist, she has trained in Systemic-Strategic Therapy with Dr. Noga Rubinstein-Nabarro at Shinui Institute. Ms. Kaminsky specializes in individual, couple and family therapy, treatment for eating disorders, short-term strategic therapy, narrative therapy and psychodynamic short-term therapy.

Iris Schocken

Iris Schocken holds an M.S. degree from Indiana University and an M.S.W. from Yeshiva University, New York. A certified family and couples therapist, she received training at Ackerman Institute, NY, and Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic and at Shinui Institute in Israel. Ms. Schocken specializes in treatment of substance-addicted adults and youth, Imago couples therapy and somatic psychotherapy (Biosynthesis, IPEC).
